Subbukutti Ayya

Subbukutti Ayya was a veena exponent who was a member of Swathi’s Court. He is the grandson of Pachimiriyam Adiyappayya, the celebrated author of the famous ‘Viriboni’ varna in Bhairavi, and was originally attached to the court of the Raja of Puddukkotta. From the record it is seen that Swathi Thirunal carried on a long correspondence with the Raja through Subba Rao for getting him in his court and finally succeeded in the attempt. Respecting the Maharaja wish, Subbukuti chose to settle down in Trivandrum itself. A handsome monthly allowance was sanctioned to him.
