Pallavi Sesha Iyer ( 1846- 1908)



He was born at Selam in Tamil Nadu. His father Neykkarapatti Subbayya was Thyagaraja’s disciple. From early child onwards he showed an expertise in rendering pallavi. He once rendered a pallavi in ragaDhanyasi for eight hours! He was known as Pallavi Sesha Iyer among music fans. He has written keerthanans and thillanans. His thillanans in Dhanyasi, Kaapi, vasntha are very popular. He wrote a kriti in Mallika Vasantha rags which a very rare one. He lived in the court of the Mysore Maharaja.
